Dr. Catherine Tawfik is a dermatology resident physician at St. Barnabas Hospital in New York. She is a fluent Arabic speaker and conversational in Spanish. She graduated from Rabinowitz Honors College at Hofstra University with a bachelor’s degree in biology and a double minor in chemistry and community health. She completed her doctorate degree at Liberty University College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Tawfik conducted extensive research on integrative medicine for the management of dermatologic manifestations of psychiatric and neurocognitive disorders. Being from Long Island, New York, she aimed to complete her residency in her home state. She completed her intern year at Peconic Bay Medical Center, where she spear-headed a research project on De-escalating Penicillin Allergies via Performance of Skin Allergy Testing. Her interests in dermatology include cutaneous manifestations of systemic diseases, as well as performing procedures including cosmetics and surgical excisions. On her free time, she enjoys spending time with her two dogs, family, and friends. She also loves to read for fun, especially on the beach—with sunscreen on, of course!
