This course reviews the etiology, diagnosis and management of the four major dermatoses of pregnancy: Atopic Eruption of Pregnancy, Polymorphic Eruption of Pregnancy, Intrahepatic Cholestasis of Pregnancy, and Pemphigoid Gestationis. We review how the etiology can help guide the diagnostic work up. We design a diagnostic algorithm that takes into account the clinical features, laboratory testing, and timing during pregnancy to guide clinicians in distinguishing between the pregnancy dermatoses. We review safety data when managing the pregnancy dermatoses and key counseling points. Finally, we review the fifth potential pregnancy dermatosis, Generalized Pustular Psoriasis of Pregnancy, and discuss both traditional and novel management strategies of this condition in the pregnant patient.
This course reviews the management of skin disease in the pregnant dermatology patient. We review basic principles in counseling the pregnant patient regarding fetal risk due to medication as well as the FDA and International Pregnancy Classification systems and resources for clinicians. We summarize the safety data for bacterial, viral and fungal treatment in pregnancy. We also review the safety data of topical, light, oral and injectable treatments for psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, cutaneous lupus, pemphigus, and acne patients. This course is full of clinical pearls for counseling your patients of childbearing age with chronic dermatologic disease on both short- and long-term therapy.
This course will review common skin problems seen in newborns and infants. The etiology, pathophysiology, clinical presentation, course, prognosis and therapeutic treatment options, with both integrative and traditional treatment options will be discussed.
