Atopic dermatitis, allergic rhinitis, and asthma frequently develop together. Beginning with case studies, this course will then focus on targeted interventions on underlying immune mechanisms of disease for Atopic Dermatitis rather than broad general immunosuppression. As we better understand the immunopathology of atopic disease, our treatments become more precise leading to improved efficacy with lower potential for adverse reactions. We are at the dawn of a revolution towards these targeted immune based therapies for atopic dermatitis with several novel agents available now and multiple options on the horizon. The role of foods in exacerbating atopic conditions will be discussed in the addendum podcast.
