Acne 101 - An Integrative Overview

This session will review the various causes of acne, describe the different subtypes of acne, and discuss different conventional and integrative approaches dermatologist Dr. Nicole Rocca uses in her practice. This discussion will be followed by an overview of the IECP curriculum to discover the benefits of integrative skin care and everything the program has to offer!

 

Learning Objectives

After completing this activity, participants will be able to:

  1. Review and explain the various causes of acne
  2. Describe the different subtypes of acne 
  3. Understand how to identify acne mimickers such as "fungal acne" and the importance of collaborating with a dermatologist
  4. Review the various conventional and integrative approaches to improving barrier function

Nicole Rocca
MD

Dr. Nicole Rocca is a New Jersey native who graduated from Rutgers University. After college, she completed her Masters Degree in Neuroscience from the Weill Cornell Graduate School of Medical Sciences. From there, she attended New Jersey Medical School and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. She then completed her dermatology training at Albert Einstein College of Medicine where she served as Chief Resident.

Dr. Rocca is a board-certified dermatologist and a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology. When she is not working she enjoys spending time with her husband,  two children, and pets and spending time outdoors running, hiking, and paddleboarding.
