Cynthia Tie M.D. is a diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology, fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, and mother to two sons raised in Tallahassee. Born in Semarang, Indonesia, Dr. Tie immigrated to the Netherlands as a child, where she lived until the completion of her medical degree from the University of Leiden. Upon graduating in 1992, she came to the United States for the first time as a research fellow at the University of Miami, where she met her husband.
She completed a transitional internship program at Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia. After her Dermatology residency at Jackson Memorial Hospital at the University of Miami in 1999, she served on the faculty for several years. In January 2002, Dr. Tie relocated for a final time to Tallahassee, when her husband accepted a faculty position at Florida State University, which he still serves. Shortly thereafter, she opened her first private practice, which stands in its current form as Family Dermatology of North Florida.
She recently received training and certification in the emerging field of integrative Dermatology, which guides her treatment philosophy. Incorporating a whole-body approach and personalized treatments, Dr. Tie provides patients with the latest evidence-based treatment in the field of pediatric and general dermatology. She has an affinity for treatments of hidradenitis, hair loss, and cosmetic dermatology, which includes laser procedures, botox, fillers, and medium-depth chemical peels.
